This was very odd... in a very pleasant way.
At the top of the line, the TSA employee checking my boarding pass couldn't get his machine to read the bar code. Then he starts chatting... did you print this at home? My machine can't read it. So, I can't send you through the TSA pre-approved line, even though the boarding pass says so. This happens sometimes, if the ink smudges and blurs. Would you like to print a new one at the kiosk, or would you rather go through the normal line?
I opt to go through the normal line because the line is very short.
The next employee is very helpful. Here is a basket for your items, ma'am. It might be best if you take your belt off, but you don't need to take your bracelets off. Do you have any liquids? How about a computer? Thank you very much.
The next one... please put hour arms above your head for just a moment. Thank you very much.
The next one. Please stand here for just a moment until we get the all clear. Thank you. You have beautiful hair.
The next one... let me get your bag for you.
They were all extra mellow and pleasant and smiling.
How nice! I will enjoy it while it lasts :)
And then, at the gate, the gate employee was oh, so pleasant too. I told her my boarding pass didn't read at the security gate, and she was very calm and pleasant and unhurried as she printed me a new one. Have a pleasant flight.
It was just a very nice experience - a nice surprise.
