Road Trip - Day 7 of 11

April 3rd:

Long drive today from Escondido to the Grand Canyon.  500+ miles.

The 4 travelers, the 4 hosts and their 3 dogs

More pets

Flowers (Bird of Paradise)

Kanchi brought croissants from his favorite French bakery.  We were ready to hit the road by about 10am when, halfway through making the last pancake, Kanchi had to leave the kitchen in a hurry.  He said he had an urgent phone call to make.  He came back to announce that he had canceled their ski vacation, and that they were going to join us for the rest of our trip.  What fun!!!!

Leaving Escondido

Pretty hills in the distance

I love the TV show
"Big Valley".  Bakersfield
is their big city.  (Their
ranch is in Stockton).
So, I had to take a
picture of the sign :)

The desert is a beautiful place, no matter what anyone from Western Oregon says!

Needles has an exceptional grocery store.
What a pleasant surprise!

Funny name

We drove pretty much all day.  It was a pleasant drive - not too hot, not too cold, bright and sunny.  We got lucky - it snowed all day at the Grand Canyon the day before and they got a few inches of snow.  But luckily, by the time we got there, about 7:30pm, the roads were clear and dry.

Pretty clouds - calming view

I love road signs
(the bug splatter on the
windscreen - not so much!)

Halley's comet?  More like a bug splat!

The road goes on and on
But now there are trees
Sunset just a few miles before we got to the Grand Canyon
