Sept 29th:
It is raining in Oregon. Not the usual drizzle, but real rain. High winds, branches across the roads, water flowing in streams alongside and sometimes across the roads. Water coming sideways at you. This is real rain, not the usual Oregon rain.
It has been this way all weekend, and now "grandma and grandpa's" basement is flooding. These are the people who live across the road from Batu's house. So, at 9pm, we were off digging ditches in the rain, diverting the water away from the house. Finally by about 11pm, the water stopped flowing in to the basement and we turned the shop-vac's off and went to bed.
