Ghost Ranch, Mom doing speed

October 26th:
First stop - Dan and Lynette's new house
The house is almost done - and the views are amazing... and so is the access to hiking and biking trails...!!!

The new house - walls are up now

Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu (a'-B-Q), NM

Ghost Ranch is a a spiritual retreat now, but was a dude ranch in the 30's-50's, where Goergia O'Keefe resided and painted.  Prior to that it belonged to Robert Wood Johnson who owned Johnson & Johnson.

Bison skull decor!

Mateo and Lynette

The drive up from Santa Fe was beautiful - the shapes and colors and magnitude of the rock formations was breathtaking.  It is also the area that Thelma and Louise was filmed.

Doing Speed...???!!??

The view - close to the "doing speed" incident
Near the "doing speed" incident

The view was so breathtaking that we lost track of the speedometer until we saw the flashing lights - yes we got pulled over for driving 66 mph in a 55 mph zone.  Lynette focused on sending strong vibes to the police person to please only give her a warning - and... he did.  He let her off with a warning.  Yeay!

Later, describing the event to dad, Mateo said the cop stopped mom "for doing speed".  Very funny!  We also thought it was an appropriate description since we were near Espanola, the drug capital of the state.

Hike to Chimney Rock:
Just a 3 mile round trip for such great views...
We all 4 started off together but after about 15 minutes Lynette and Mateo turned back to check out the dinosaur museum, while Steph and I continued on.  The area has had several dinosaur skeletons, and is a current archeological dig area.
